After studying graphic design in Montréal in 2000, Elise Gravel quickly discovered a passion for illustration. Inspired by working on her first children’s book, Le catalogue des gaspilleurs, she has since written and illustrated a dozen books for children.

With humor and a sense of the absurd, she parodies the worlds of advertising, fashion, fast food, and consumerism, and encourages children to look critically and poke fun at the social problems that bother them.

She won her first Governor General’s Literary Award from the Canada Council for the Arts in 2012 for her book La clé à molette.
